The World Of Khoras - Physical World - Jungles and Rainforests

Nahjdar

There are rumors of a hermit sorcerer living deep in the heart of the Darijun Jungle. Stories say that this is a sixth generation secambru who lives apart from the others. The tales have it half right.

The truth is that he is Nahjdar of the Jarkune. Once a shaman among the mountain giants of the north, he fled after a failed coup. In his possession he has a sunder shard, an artifact taken of the Jarkune people. It is the source of much of his power and his most prized possession.

By the power of the crystal, he has greatly extended his life, keeping both death and decrepit age at bay. Although he appears as a very old and very large secambru giant, he is in very good health thanks to the magic. In truth, Nahjdar is like the other Jarkune giants... the equivalent of a 7th generation secambru. He stands 8 meters tall (26 feet) and weighs several tons.

His great size and strength make him a dangerous foe, but he also has magic. Nahjdar has studied ancient scrolls and spellbooks that he found long ago and has learned shamanistic magic from a 6th generation secambru before him. It is the crystal, however, which grants him his most potent magic. He draws energy from it to aid him with his spell casting. The crystal gives him enormous magical power and he will never be without it.

For the last three centuries, he has lived alone in the wilds of the Darijun Jungle. He lives in an enrmous cave in the side of a hill. A great gnarled ancient oak tree straddles the hill, framing the cave entrance with its giant roots. He has studied plant lore and animal lore, herbalism and astrology, ritualistic magic and summonings. From this hard work he know commands a wide arsenal of spells. And he continues to learn to this day. He will go to great lengths to acquire more magical knowledge.

Nahjdar spends his time travelling all over the Darijun Jungle. He hunts for food and gathers herbs and mushrooms. He occasionally trades with the aswani and with others as he meets them. Back in his home, he brews potions and practices magic.

If he encounters someone that seems to have some magic about them, he will try to trade for it or learn from them. He is always eager to learn new spells and expand his power. If they have no magic, he will kill and bring their corpse home for his dinner. He has dined on the flesh of many races, but likes humans the best.

In his exile, Nahjdar has stewed in his bitterness. He has grown selfish, cruel and egotistical. He hates all others and will kill and steal without remorse. He cares only for increasing his magical knowledge. Above all else, he prizes his crystal shard. To this day, he is unaware of its historical significance. He knows only that it is, thus far, an inexhaustible power source.
